VoIP and iPhone up for Trade-offs

by admin on January 30, 2010

iPhone has always been the center of attention in the technology field. Apple Inc.’s new iPhone 3G model sold over a million sets in the first week of its launch. Additionally, Apple also started a new endeavor to offer third-party applications from App store, which are compatible with both new and earlier iPhone models. Here comes the best part. iPhone apps will also be giving away VoIP. This will be an excellent benefit for iPhone users because this will help them save a lot on cost for making international calls overseas using your Voip service in the iPhone. iPhone VoIP will provide all the perks of mobile Voip, but with more trade-offs along side.

Truphone’s VoIP App for iPhone

The very first company to have brought the first Voip app for iPhone was Truphone. After the user downloads the software, he/she can easily make and receive Voip calls using the wifi internet hotspots. However, this application doesn’t let the user connect to Voip network using mobile voice links, which otherwise can be accessed with Truphone by any other means. If it had been allowed, it would have been possible for iPhone users to make their cheap voip calls to international destinations even without the need for having hotspots in the vicinity at the rate of local mobile costs and the rate at which people can make international calls using Truphone Voip.

Packet8 MobileTalk for iPhone

Packet 8×8 Inc.’s VoIP application – Packet8 MobileTalk for iPhone – doesn’t require the need for wifi hotspots. Instead, it uses the cellular voice network to carry calls connecting the phone with the VoIP network. Simply download the Packet8 MobileTalk and enjoy voip services in any cell phone apart from iPhone. Packet8 MobileTalk for iPhone has a website which can be accessed using the iPhone browser.

Once the user dials a number, the website detects a cookie which the iPhone browser has already stored to identify the caller. The website in turn delivers the browser with necessary guidelines enabling the iPhone to dial Packet8 access number, from where it is routed to Packet8 VoIP network. The reason for using this website is to ensure that no third-party applications can access the iPhone dialer and prevents Voip phishing.

JAJAH’s iPhone App: Coming Soon

JAJAH Inc.’s is soon to release an iPhone VoIP app. With this the application, iPhones will be able to make calls via 3G, EDGE or wifi data networks. This call will be routed to the JAJAH Voip network.

iCall App in Beta version for iPhone

Currently, ICall Inc.’s for iPhone users has been launched in beta testing. Similar to Truphone’s Voip application, it also uses wifi hotspots to access the VoIP network. The added advantage is that the app’s can also use a cellular call to connect to a wifi call devoid of breaking off the communication. According to ICall, this swap will take place in a seamlessly manner.Voip is all over the place and now even in your iPhone.

Now a days there are lots of I Phone Apps and so many are very useful for I phone users, my fav app is Pandora. You can use the Pandora app to stream music over 3G or Wi-Fi. Updated first-gen iPhones can stream over Wi-Fi or Edge, and the iPod Touch will obviously only stream over its Wi-Fi connection.

Hi, I’ve read the article thoroughly. Admit, I had some fears of losing my money on going for buying VoIP or iPhone. But after reading your piece, I am now certain and have cleared the dust from my mind and will be buying these technologically enhanced phones.

Is there a plan for a straight forward SIP client? The Nokia E-Series has had this for over a year and I’d expect and require it in order to use an iPhone for business. Speaking of which, is the iPhone available on business tarrifs in the UK?
