VoIP not only provides inexpensive local and long-distance calls, but it also holds its space in the gaming world. Microsoft’s XBOX 360 and Sony’s play stations are the pioneers in turning VoIP into a gaming platform for infinite gamers around the world. The most enticing thing about this technique is that gamers can talk into their headsets while gaming and hunting their rivals. This makes switching screens and typing non-existent in games, making them even more exciting and somewhat life-like. It gives the players ample time to concentrate on their games, which proves beneficial for their team’s coordination and launch attacks etc. Moreover, it also gives the team a chance to launch insults as well taunts at the other party, something that the gamers relish.
Xbox and Play station have made multiplayer games, which are mainly used for a more competitive, interactive, and forceful ground. This system is all the more exciting and vigorous for teams and clans, who can concentrate on the team without any typing hindrance. Gaming becomes a life-like reality, which is the most luring thought for any player out there. VoIP has a built in gaming capability and the users only need a headset and a microphone to get started.
Typing has always been seen as a hurdle by many gamers around the world. It takes away the powerful emotions and vivacity that gaming is set to instill among players. Now VoIP has shoved this obstacle away as any instruction or motivation is carried out verbally through this system.
VoIP gaming is also less expensive in terms that players can make a personalized connection without spilling a large amount of money on long-distance calls to gamers located in other parts of the world. This makes the gamers use a lot of Internet bandwidth. Networks should find a subtle solution in order to save bandwidth through compression.
While many gamers are taking advantage of turning their game-life into a reality through VoIP, some of them have not been able to relish this opportunity, as some games are still not compatible with VoIP. Moreover, VoIP has developed to such an extent that many teams or clans do not allow anyone to join unless and until they have VoIP gaming service installed. Still such games are also heading towards creating a change in order to fit into the modern gaming facilities. Current users of VoIP feel that it has added a new personal dimension to gaming by getting rid of impersonal switching of screens typing.
Microsoft and Sony may have been the first one to introduce this voice service through VoIP among gamers, yet many other ambitious companies now have a notion of making use of this facility on wider terms. VoIP capabilities are now provided by Globe 7, Skype and Jajah. Globe 7 is downloadable software, which gives one the ability to make free calls from one computer to another. The other two are different yet have the same capabilities of providing a life-like gaming system.
